"Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." – William Shakespeare
Hop! And here we are, at the helm of a ship called life.
This is your ship – do you know that? Do you realize that only your imagination limits you from conquering new routes? You didn’t? Well, now you do!
Like any ship, you can never be certain how many storms and hurricanes you’ll face or how battered your sails will be. But one thing is certain – there will be storms. You know they happen, and there’s no escaping them. But if you want to take life by the handful, and not just nibble at it like a drunk outside a liquor store (if at all), then embrace the challenges. Don’t fear them! Enjoy them. Every single moment – even in the middle of a storm!
Did you know that on March 16, 1521, Magellan discovered the Philippines and claimed them for the Spanish crown? I wonder if he worried about the weather conditions on his wooden tub. Those weren’t the days of steel giants with GPS navigation and SOS systems… oh no… Think about what must have been going through his mind. And yet, we still remember his name today – almost everyone does, especially in the Philippines.
Enlightenment. And just like that, the topic of this blog seems to have become irrelevant…
Actually, no. In this very second, I’ve been struck by an insight. Like a bolt from the blue. Like a burst of energy straight from Pikachu’s rear end!
What if… we could enjoy unpleasant things? A little quirk (of course, without any extremes, which are always – practically always – bad)…
Example? Hmmmm… I’m making it up on the fly. Bear with me.
What if we could experience the mild pain of sore muscles during a bike ride as a joy? A sign that they are strengthening, activating, and regenerating? Instead of thinking, "It hurts, this is bad," we could think the exact opposite!
The thought in my head:
"Ajjjjj, this ache feels great... Give me some more of that! Let those little weaklings wake up!"
And just like that, you can rewire your mind. Our brains are immensely powerful – let’s use them to transform negative sensations into something positive and beneficial.
Water and vinegar. Another example that just popped into my head.
How I used to hate it! Just the thought of it made me cringe. Then I read about it, learned a bit more, and… suddenly, it doesn’t bother me anymore.
Now, my antioxidant-regenerating-detoxifying-health elixir has become my daily dose of well-being. Besides all the health benefits, it gives me a rush of endorphins – I feel better just by mixing it up and downing it. No more pinching my nose while swallowing it.
I actually like the taste now. A lot.
Even its vomit-mixed-with-old-socks smell has grown on me! Shoutout to you, spirulina and chlorella!
The mind is the control center. Don’t let your habits intimidate you – transform discomfort into something positive!
"Nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." – William Shakespeare
Well, fantastic. My A4 page is almost full, and I haven’t even started the actual blog. Bravo, Kacper.
Oh well – at least I’ve got my topic for tomorrow, which was supposed to be today’s:
Day Review. Review #5!
At the bottom, you’ll find my list of blog posts from the past week, along with brief summaries. I wrote a lot, I stumbled a bit, but what’s the most important thing?
I’M MOVING TOWARD MY GOAL!
I stick to my core principles. I train willpower and patience. I fight every day for a better ME. The HMF method combined with the 1% rule is working like a charm – like the invention of the tubeless tire. Looks the same on the outside, but ohhh, buddy, the structure and quality? A whole different league.
That’s how life should be lived!
A smile, and let’s dive into the recap:
[EN] Superfood: Goji Berries
[DE] Superfood: Goji Beeren
How else to start the week if not with pure energy? Goji berries – small, yet packed with power, as if Mother Nature said: "Here, take this, it’s been working for centuries. No excuses."
They boost immunity, improve vision, give energy, and are natural antioxidants. Tiny, but powerful inside. Just like us – if we choose to act.
And my choice to wake up and fight? That was my personal goji for the day.
Motto of the day: "Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Create it."
[EN] Habits: Recognize Success
[DE] Gewohnheiten: Erkenne Erfolge
If something is going to change you, it won’t be a big revolution – it’ll be consistency.
Exercise, cycling, English – done daily, until they become part of who you are.
School taught us to recognize mistakes, but successes? Few people notice them. Yet, they’re what build habits. Pay attention to your small wins – they lead to big victories.
Motto of the day: "What you focus on grows."
[EN] You Are Not a Robot (Part 2)
[DE] Du bist kein Roboter (Teil 2)
Fighting yourself is a daily battle. You can give in to fatigue, say "maybe later," but then another "maybe" comes, and then… never.
Comfort is deceptive – the warm blanket of laziness is tempting, but it leads nowhere. In the kitchen, at work, in sports – willpower is tested at every step. It’s a weapon we build through daily choices.
Motto of the day: "Willpower is your weapon against bad habits."
[EN] Sinusoid: The Value of Failures
[DE] Sinuskurve: Niederlagen & Erfolg
Life is not a straight line; it’s a sinusoid. Ups and downs are natural, and failure is not the end – it’s a new beginning.
Everyone who has achieved success has failed. Jobs got kicked out of Apple, athletes have bad seasons, entrepreneurs lose companies – and what? They keep going.
The key is the HMF method – health, motivation, fundamentals. Every low point can be turned into a trampoline for growth.
Motto of the day: "Falling is not failure. Failure is staying where you fell." – Socrates
[EN] Willpower System
[DE] Willenskraft System
Willpower is not magic. It’s a system. It doesn’t work forever – if you don’t use it, it weakens.
Just like Einstein, who wasn’t a genius with talent falling from the sky. He was stubborn, consistent, and acted despite failures. He had a plan.
We can have one too.
Motto of the day: "I am not particularly talented. I am just exceptionally persistent." – Einstein
Saturday, March 15, 2025 – Willpower as a Muscle
[EN] Willpower as a Muscle
[DE] Willenskraft als Muskel
Willpower is a muscle. It gets exhausted if overused, but if trained wisely – it grows.
Psychological experiments show that if you waste energy on insignificant decisions, you won’t have strength left for the important ones.
That’s why the key is a system – automation, planning, eliminating temptations. Success is not about strength of character but a well-structured environment.
That was my week.
Full of insights. I gave it my all, but I know I can do even better – and I will!
Next week is mine!
Tomorrow, I’m off on a journey. Gidra… I’m coming!
PS. An Important Lesson for the Future
This week, something… unpleasant happened to me.
Since I write a company blog for GlasRein.ch – my window cleaning business – I also include images in my posts. Whenever I use external images, I always credit the source. And I thought that was enough.
Turns out, it wasn’t.
I was ordered to pay for a license (that’s how Swiss law works). For a single image.
300 CHF.
For nothing.
For one random image that just happened to fit the post – I could have used it, but I didn’t have to. Bad luck had it that this image was licensed…
What next? Should I beat myself up for my stupidity? Worry about it?
Yes. That’s exactly what I did.
Unfortunately.
But luckily, I write this blog and stick to my own rules.
So, I turned this into a lesson.
What happened? I got a wake-up call over a single image.
But what if I had ten such images?
Or a hundred?
I’d never be able to pay off such a mistake in my lifetime.
Positive Takeaways:
This lesson will serve me well when I build my online store and start adding thousands of products. That means one thing: no more random images!
From now on, I won’t use anything I don’t have full rights to.
What did I gain from this?
Possibly, I just saved myself tens of thousands of francs thanks to one single image from an insignificant company blog post.
I paid for the license.
