I Am Not a Robot! Part #2

Good morning!

A new day. A beautiful new day! New challenges – what would I do if they didn’t exist? (BOOOOORING! 😊 I remember that back in university, people used to laugh at me because I couldn’t just walk – I was always running. I walked so fast that I was practically running. They asked me why, whether I was in a hurry somewhere. My answer was simple: Walking is boring! – A little anecdote to start the day.)

The first part of the blog about not being a robot: DE: https://dailyinspire.ch/Blog/du-bist-kein-Roboter-1 EN: https://dailyinspire.ch/en/blogs/you-are-not-a-robot-1. Highly recommended 😊

New challenges – or rather, new obstacles that life, with stubborn persistence, keeps placing in my path, constantly preventing me from completing certain tasks. As if someone were deliberately trying to distract me from my routine activities, testing my endurance, throwing small temptations my way – don’t do this now, you can do it in a moment. Why now? Your eyes are closing – go lie down, etc. It’s hard. It’s really hard to resist. Let’s not fool ourselves – sometimes we give in. We are not robots, so what can we do? Sometimes we must fall victim to our own weaknesses. The important thing is to be aware of this and strive to prevent it from becoming the norm. After all, we are fighting for a “new” normal. For a better ME. For a better world, not for another candy bar while watching a dumb comedy on Netflix, where a black Robin Hood rescues his fiancé from a pleasure house for drag queens. Ok?

And you know what? It works. All these distractions and interruptions give me a lot to think about. The frustration of unfinished tasks dragging on, but also the greater joy of accomplishing them. Summing up this introduction: I am not a robot. Sometimes I stumble. I draw conclusions and continue my game. In video games, this is called a respawn. In real life: a reassessment.

Comfort

We love comfort. We cherish it. It’s our warm blanket, soft slippers, familiar flavors, and habits. Stepping out of this comfort is a lot of work – both in the heart and in the body. A better example than any lecture:

Willpower on the Front Line

Imagine (I don’t have to, because this is my reality) – you are a chef in a restaurant full of delicious dishes. Not only do you know that these meals are amazing, but you are certain that they are of the highest quality! And yet…

You have made a decision. You stick to the rules. You don’t eat sugar (and that’s a great choice – if you don’t believe me, read this blog – it will open your eyes, my little skeptic: DE: https://dailyinspire.ch/Blog/zucker-realitaet EN: https://dailyinspire.ch/en/blogs/sugar-reality), you limit carbohydrates to a minimum. You don’t eat after 5:00 PM (my personal Lenten challenge, which I am organizing on the side – it is not related to my game with the HMF method, etc. I simply have a few agreements with the Big Guy that I want to honor during Lent – for the Catholic Church, this lasts until April 17, 2025. Islam has Ramadan around the same time – until March 30 – that’s tough! I see people who neither eat nor drink until 6:30 PM every day. That’s hardcore.)

Back to the kitchen and our environment filled with treats, aromas, and textures so delicious that your eyes eat before you do. How not to succumb!? How not to give in? How not to grab a piece of fresh, crispy bread with butter? How not to take a small bite of walnut ice cream? How?! It’s so delicious! I know, because I’ve tried it many times!

This is training. Training one of the most powerful skills – willpower.

Willpower is our weapon against impulses. Thanks to it, we learn patience, perseverance, and pushing beyond our limits. It allows us to step out of our comfort zone and take a step toward something new.

I will write about willpower tomorrow. Already noted! 😊

However, referring to today’s topic – willpower is our weapon against bad habits. A weapon against harmful beliefs. Even though we are not robots, willpower is incredibly powerful in building good habits, which are like a program. Once installed – used for a lifetime.

Building New Habits

I don’t start with a revolution. I don’t turn my life 180 degrees. I build foundations – step by step.

  • Morning exercises – have become a habit. I wake up, stretch, do my sets. And I feel that my body is starting to need it.
  • Cycling – I no longer fight with myself to get on the bike. I do it because it’s part of me.
  • Learning English – two words every four days. I write them down, repeat them, immerse myself in the language. I am not chasing perfection. I am not a robot. But I want to be very good.

And now the next challenge: controlling my diet. I don’t eat sugar. I limit carbohydrates. After 5:00 PM – no eating. Is it easy? No. But I see that this will become my next habit. Another brick in my structure.

When will I see results? Over time. Patience. It’s worth it.

Will I stumble? Many times. Perseverance and consistency. That’s key.

Will it be comfortable? I don’t think so. Vinegar, olive oil, and turmeric with water didn’t taste good at first – they were even repulsive – but today, they feel like a cocktail with an umbrella. They are delicious in their unpleasantness and weird mixture.

Will everything be against you? Maybe not everything, but a lot. That’s just a sign that it’s worth the effort. There are no free lunches.

I am not a robot. I consciously choose the path of growth.
