"A mistake is proof that you are trying." – Jennifer Lim
Good morning, guten Morgen, bonjour...
Today there will be no standard morning post, full of enthusiasm and challenges. Today, I sit down before you and write with full awareness that I must confess. Yesterday, I made a blunder. A real one. Not a small clumsiness that can be turned into a joke and quickly forgotten. I let my emotions get the better of me. In a single moment, everything I had been working on to maintain calm and control collapsed like a house of cards. I lost my balance. I fell – both literally and figuratively. I am ashamed. Ashamed because I know I should have been better. Ashamed because every day here, together with you, we work on building ourselves up, 1% better every day, and for a short moment, I ceased to be my own teacher.
A mistake must be acknowledged
But there is another side to this situation. Running away from a mistake changes nothing. Admitting it and denouncing it – changes everything. In the HMF method (or GMF in German) – health, motivation, fundamentals – it is not only about being better in theory. It is about building internal responsibility, honesty towards oneself, and the courage to admit mistakes. Without sincerity towards oneself, no improvement makes sense. That is why today I am not only admitting my mistake. I am imposing a penalty on myself. A harsh one. One that will not allow me to forget this lesson. For the next week, I will get up every day at 5:00 a.m. Every day, an additional hour of hard work on myself. Every day, a new topic for improvement, without any excuses, without softening the failure with beautiful words. Every day 1% more humility, 1% more mindfulness, 1% more strength.
From mistake to strength
Mistakes must be acknowledged and denounced. Otherwise, they become unwelcome friends, lurking and waiting for a moment of weakness. Today, I feel that pain. And that is good. Only then does true change happen. The HMF method is not empty slogans about motivation. It is systematic, daily struggle with one’s weaknesses. It is a choice: either I control my emotions, or my emotions control me. Yesterday, I lost the battle. But I did not lose the war. Every day is a new chance to rise wiser.
