Today is the day when I’m negotiating some really big and serious topics that will shape a large part of my future... I need to be professional, persistent, and well-prepared. Focused and full of courage. I have to trust myself and my skills, while at the same time building up my Self and selling my best qualities – while hiding the weaker ones.
In other words, I have to be a good negotiator and salesperson.
Selling yourself doesn’t mean anything bad.
Positive self-selling happens every day – just in different intensities. I try to stay natural and never fake anything. But today, I have to be a professional, because this is about the professional aspect of my life. The Fundamentals in my HMF method – meaning work.
Even though I already have a daily job (I’m a chef and I give it my 100%) – I’m building my own business (a physical and online company in the construction and interior design market). I negotiate every day – there’s literally no day I don’t speak with a contractor, supplier, or developer (yes – I need help in some areas. Delegating tasks is one of the habits I plan to implement in 2025).
Negotiations are a huge part of life, so let’s focus on them and practice.
That’s my plan for today. I’m going to play around with my boss.
Negotiation = a professional brawl with only one winner, because...
I’ll make things clear. I’m coming in with two proposals.
First, I’ll ask the other party to verbally explain: how they see the situation, what they expect, what plans they have, etc. AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I need to write it all down and respond instantly!
I need to be a rubber man. A rubber brain – but not like chewing gum (sloppy and slow) – no. Like slingshot rubber: fast, flexible, and insanely dangerous!
Let’s go. I’ll respond to my boss’s plans. I’ll adapt and hit hard.
I present my two options – prepared in advance (slightly adjusted to fit his statements).
My options are so good, they can’t be refused. I know it.
That’s why I’m not waiting for the outcome of the negotiation – I’m waiting for him to choose one of the options.
I’m not compromising in today’s negotiations.
Because a good negotiator leads the negotiation like it’s on a string – meaning they’re not really negotiating at all, they’re just guiding the other party to the exact destination they had planned.
Obviously, in a simple way (though not easy).
My proposals are insanely good, professionally prepared, full of innovation, and will have a positive impact on the company.
They are simply impossible to refuse!
Both options are good for me. The first is better, but the second is still great.
I’ll leave the choice to my boss – he needs to feel like he’s deciding – but I know that I created this path and these options.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
Nothing wrong at all with such negotiations.
In my case, both sides benefit – but I know it’s going the way I planned it.
The other party is adapting.
Negotiate often! Play – professionally! Be flexible!
Offer a choice – but don’t compromise! Negotiate hard!
Your option has to win!
Have a good day.
Happy negotiations in the store and on the street.
