“Mi noh born fi bow. Mi born fi rise.”
(I wasn’t born to kneel. I was born to rise. – Jamaican proverb)

Early morning.

A beautiful one. I woke up earlier than usual, though that’s not my habit.

Before I get to the heart of the blog – the superfood that is young barley powder – I’d like to make a little digression.
A small nighttime-morning-evening reflection.

Injustice.

There is nothing more painful than injustice entering your life uninvited.

Sometimes a person does everything right. Sticks to principles, plays fair, works late, helps others, does no harm. And still gets slapped. Sometimes by life, sometimes by people who look you in the eye with a smile while sharpening a knife behind your back. So what then?

Then you get up. Not for them. For yourself.

Because the world will never be fair. And no one promised us it would be.
But we have something that can’t be taken away: our mind and our soul.

They tell us when we are in truth. They whisper:
“Don’t break. You’re stronger than all of this.”

I know what it’s like to lie on the ground. And I know what it’s like to get up. In pain, with a burden, but with my head held higher than ever before. Because falling isn’t failure. Falling is part of the path.

Over time, you stop asking:
“Why did this happen to me?”
And start saying:
“Alright. It came? It’ll go. And I’ll move on.”

Each of us has a choice – stay in the mud or crawl out of it. Dirty, tired, but free. Stronger. It’s in those moments that true strength is born.

And no, it’s not about being indestructible. It’s about rising faster than life can kick you again.

Short and simple! Don’t let yourself be kicked! TFU!
Alright... peace. CALM and FOCUS...

... back to Jamaica.

Wha gwan, mi bredren?!

Grass is grass – you say? But not all grass is meant to be smoked. Not all turns your brain into cotton candy, and not all ends with pizza at 2 a.m.

Today we’ll talk about another kind of grass: Green, beautiful, and legal as a carrot.

Gerstengrass. Young barley. A superfood with character.

Because you know what? Since you’re already on the path of rising, it’s good to give your body some support from nature.
I do it every day – not because it’s trendy, not because of ads.
I do it because it works, and I see the results. I feel the results.

And today I’ll tell you about it with a spoonful of green powder in my oily-vinegary shake.
(The only thing missing in that shake is a man and a woman – as we say in Poland.)

So what exactly is this barley powder?

Gerstengrass, or young barley, is not some new invention by TikTok influencers.
Ancient Egyptians and Romans already considered young barley a sacred plant that strengthened the body and spirit.

Today, it’s back in favor thanks to natural medicine and clinical dietitians.
And what a comeback – worthy of an Oscar, because it’s hard to find anything more packed with goodness.

Young barley is harvested at just the right moment – when the plant is only a few centimeters tall and looks like a freshly mown lawn. Then it’s dried at low temperatures (to preserve enzymes), ground into powder and... ready. That’s how the green power locked in a jar is born.

But why eat it at all?

Because it’s green gold.
Gerstengrass is one of the most nutrient-rich sources of chlorophyll, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals.
It contains:

  • more vitamin C than oranges,
  • more calcium than milk,
  • plus iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium,
  • and an entire army of antioxidants.

It’s easy to digest, alkaline, and supports the body in removing toxins.
It’s great for digestion, the liver, improves skin quality, and boosts the immune system.
All without any chemical additives.

How do I eat it?

Simple.
One small spoonful of powder once a day – always in the morning around 5 a.m., dissolved in lukewarm water. Sometimes I add it to flaxseed porridge, but I don’t overdo it.

It’s not a dessert. Or maybe it is… I’m starting to enjoy strange things.
(I’ll start worrying when chlorella becomes a delicacy to me – that will mean my taste buds have turned 180°…)

I take it for a week, then a week off.
The body has rhythm, and I respect nature.

It acts as a natural detox – I feel lighter, digest better, have less bloating (practically none).
And seriously – more energy and fewer nerves.

And what does Doctor of Dietetics Kacper say?

(Self-proclaimed, but let the one who never bought a degree throw the first lab coat!)

Gladly handing over the mic to my inner scientist (yes, we all have one inside).

Young barley is an excellent source of bioactive compounds:

  • chlorophyll, which acts as a cleanser,
  • SOD (superoxide dismutase) – a powerful antioxidant enzyme,
  • beta-carotene, which supports the eyes and skin,
  • folic acid, essential for the production of new cells.

It’s also a complete plant-based protein with all essential amino acids that must be supplied through food.
Add to that:

  • fiber that supports gut flora,
  • and natural digestive enzymes that relieve the pancreas.

For me, as a “professor” – it’s an ideal product supporting detox, fighting chronic fatigue, and balancing the body’s pH.
In a world where acidic junk is the norm, Gerstengrass is like a top-tier green cleanup crew.

And what next?

It’s not a magical powder that will change your life in a day.
But it’s a great puzzle piece, just like the other superfoods I use.

These are supplements (yes – the name comes from the fact that they supplement our daily diet, not replace it – just a small digression), which:

  • help the liver breathe,
  • support the cells,
  • as well as our eyes and skin.

Back to the topic of falls and injustice:

I toss my green powder where it’s needed and as much as needed.
It’s always worth observing your body and of course not overdoing it, because too much of anything is never healthy – that’s always a rule.
In every aspect of life.

Young barley, along with other “gadgets” in my morning drink, is my green reminder:
You don’t have to be perfect – it’s enough that every day you do something good for yourself.

Motto for today:

“Be like barley – unassuming but full of power.

Grow where others only mow.”
